Just about every parent worries that their child may not fit in. For some children, navigating friendships and social situations can be a struggle. How can you help your "quirky" child succeed at school and with friends?

Dr. Mark Bowers from the Brighton Center for Pediatric Neurodevelopment will be here to answer your questions in this virtual Zoom program hosted by GADML. Dr. Bowers is the author of 8 Keys to Raising the Quirky Child: How to Help a Kid Who Doesn't (Quite) Fit In, available for checkout from the library or by loan through the Michigan eLibrary (mel.org).

Dr. Bowers specializes in neurodevelopmental diagnoses, OCD/anxiety, and teaching 'quirky' kids and teens social skills. The author of two books, he has also developed a mobile app to help children and teens improve their social skills that has been downloaded in over 60 countries and is being used in elementary schools, high schools, and colleges around the world.

This virtual program will address the K-12 years in particular, but parents of younger children are also welcome to attend.

Registration begins at midnight on Tuesday, March 29 at gadml.librarycalendar.com or by calling 989-837-3449. Registrants will receive the Zoom link by email before the program begins at 6:30pm on April 5.
